Dear Friends, Our trip to Israel is fast approaching! I would be honored to take a kvittel (a little prayer written on a small piece of paper) to place in the cracks of the Kotel ha-Ma'aravi (the Western Wall) on your behalf. If you have a prayer you'd like to send with me, you can bring it to the Temple, or send it to me via email (simply reply to this email), or snail-mail before June 15.
There is also a beautiful custom of giving tzedakah to a person traveling to Israel, so he can donate it to a worthy cause there on your behalf. Jewish tradition holds that placing your charity in the care of a person traveling a long distance protects him, since no harm can befall a shaliah mitzvah, an agent for performing a good deed. So, if you want to protect me on my journey while making the world a better place, you can bring some tzedakah to the Temple before June 15, and I will take it with me to donate.
