Dear Friends, I invite you to read a column I just published, with a Jewish perspective on what is happening right now on our southern border. In my view, the policy of separating families is incompatable with our country’s democratic ideals, with biblical values (regardless of what the Attorney General says), and with basic human decency. I am encouraged that my views are widely shared by many in the American Jewish community. If you are so moved, I encourage you to contact your elected officials as well as the White House, the Department of Justice, and the Department of Homeland Security. You might also consider sharing my column as widely as possible in the hopes of amplifying the message and spurring action. Whatever your thoughts and feelings on this (or any other) subject, please know my door is always open to you for continued conversation.
Warmly, Rabbi Michael Knopf
