The Talmud teaches that 30 days before Passover, we should start learning about the holiday and its meaning. In that spirit, I humbly offer "30 Days of Liberation." For each of the next 30 days, I will offer a brief message drawn from the wisdom of Passover. I hope you find these messages meaningful and inspiring. Feel free to share/forward.
30 Days of Liberation: Day 22 At the beginning of the Seder, we break a ceremonial piece of matzah, Yahatz. We hide the larger half (sometimes called the Afikoman) to find and eat at the end of the evening, Tzafun. As we gather at the Seder table, we acknowledge the brokenness of our world as it is. This is a world, after all, that tolerated our ancestors’ slavery in Egypt - not to mention countless other instances of unspeakable persecution and abuse - and continues to abide heinous oppression and cruelty. But as we move through the Seder’s rituals and narrative, we are reminded that subjugation can be ended, oppressors toppled, and new orders established. The broken can be made whole. That’s why we are not allowed to finish the Seder without finding and eating the Afikoman: Ultimate redemption is possible if we want it, if we seek it, if we hold fast to it, and we cannot consider our work done - at the Seder, or in our world - until we put the shattered pieces back together.
We have raised over $71,000--- almost 75%!! Help us get to the $100,000 goal!
